For large castings, in the actual production, the deformation caused by heat treatment is very important to the subsequent process, and there are a lot of scrap due to excessive deformation. In order to reduce and control the deformation of large castings caused by heat treatment, we can optimize the process parameters of heat treatment, increase the isothermal stage, control the heating rate and the temperature of parts, and increase the quenching water temperature. Many manufacturers will buy sodium cyanate as heat treatment agent to reduce the deformation of heat treatment.

In the process of heating and warming up, the surface temperature of the parts rises rapidly, the center temperature rises slowly, and there is thermal stress when there is a temperature difference between the surface and the center. The faster the heating speed, the greater the wall thickness of the parts, the greater the temperature difference and the greater the thermal stress produced.

In the process of quenching and cooling, the faster the cooling speed, the greater the thermal stress and the greater the deformation of the parts. Sodium cyanate can reduce the cooling speed and effectively reduce the deformation of parts on the premise that no second phase is separated out during the cooling process.

Water is usually used as cooling medium in casting treatment, and the cooling capacity of water is greatly affected by its temperature. For example, the heat treatment of large aluminum alloy castings can effectively reduce the heat treatment deformation of large aluminum alloy castings by optimizing the heat treatment process parameters, increasing the isothermal stage, controlling the heating rate and the furnace temperature of the parts, increasing the quenching water temperature and other process measures (also by improving the part clamping and placement mode, and using the correction and other means).

Sodium cyanate is often used as carburizing agent and nitriding agent in metal heat treatment. The toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of metal surface treated with sodium cyanate are increased, and the fatigue life is significantly increased.
