How to distinguish true from false potassium formate?

1.Look at the packaging. The product name, content, grade, trademark, net weight, factory name, site and standard code are indicated on the normal potassium formate production package. If the above label is incomplete or incomplete, it may be fake fertilizer or inferior products.
2.Look at the appearance. The authentic potassium formate is a white solid, easy to absorb moisture, has reducibility, can react with strong oxidant, the density is 1.9100g/cm3, soluble in water, non-toxic and non-corrosive.
3.Look at water solubility. The authentic potassium formate aqueous solution is a colourless transparent liquid with a saturated solution specific gravity of 1.58g/cm3. Potassium formate aqueous solution can be dissolved in any proportion of water.
4.Look at the lab test. Firstly, flame reaction was carried out under blue cobalt glass to see if there was a purple flame to test K+.
HCOO - can be tested by adding appropriate amount of H2SO4 to acidify the solution and adding excessive NaOH and appropriate amount of CuSO4. After heating, we can observe whether there is brick-red precipitation or distillation of acidizing solution, and then detect HCOOH by mass spectrometer or infrared spectroscopy.
